----MY FIRST FEW DAYS
June 4, 2012
-- The first few days of my internship was actually okay, though I felt nervous and looks like I am out of my mind always, it was really fine, I think it is a part of the learning process.
I remember those times, we have nothing to do but to purely observe things in the office and when time comes that we were given by a task, I always feel nervous, thinking that I might get mistake and give bad impression to my supervisors. But I was very thankful that they were very approachable, understanding and totally different from what I think of them at first.
On my first few days, I got a lot of mistakes on working, I honestly got frustrated sometimes because, even simple things which is actually easy to do, I commit mistake. Whenever I got home, and before I go to sleep, I always recall what I did in the office and think for some good things that I could do next time. Actually, until now, I always do that, especially when I did something wrong, I always find a way to make things better next time.
During my first week, I feared on answering the phones and entertain costumers because I really don't know what to do. My observation last for almost 2 weeks before I slowly learn things in the office, it seems things there are not working on my mind and I get confused on some things.
But later on, I learn things step by step and I am now comfortable to do the tasks assigned to me.
----CEBU GRAND INDEPENDENCE BALL
July 12, 2012
@Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Cebu City
---It was actually my first time to attend an event like the Independence ball where in most of the invited guests are the prominent and very important people in Cebu. For me that was a great experience for us ordinary students who's just having internship to meet and greet elites. Not all people are given the chance to meet those individuals and be with them in one room. And we are lucky that we are given the chance to meet those people. Thus, I am very much thankful to my supervisors for giving us such opportunity.
What I learned from that experience is, Social Communication is really very important, and just like what my classmate said "social climbing is a skill", for me it sounds true also. Usually social climbing is associated with negative connotations but it has a positive side also. Social climbing helps you reach out to other people, and as a media practitioner sometimes social climbing is needed in the field.
Of course, in facing those people, you have to know the proper communication which you have erudited from school.
One things you will also learn in facing "giants" is to be keen in presenting yourself to them. You have to observe proper grooming, proper way of speaking and even your gestures, all of hese will matter as you go on the field.
----75 Families of Distinction-- Suroy Suroy sa Sugbo
June 23, 2012
-- It is always a great experience for me to have a tour and be able to see different places. Last July 23, 2012 was another memorable tour for me, but this time it is different, because what I experienced from that tour is really amazing. Amazing because I didn't expect that behind the beauty of the City of Cebu that most people see, there are some places behind the city that you can say "wow".. The environment, the ambiance, really, it will amaze you.
Additional factor of the memories from that tour was the 75 families of distinction, which I was able to talk with. In fact, I was able to recieved good feedbacks from them which gave me more enthusiasm to serve and guide them. It was actually my first time to recieved a complement since I began my internship and I feel so great and happy.
I did not just enjoy the tour but I really learned a lot of things from the officials of the City Hall which became my new friends also. I feel happy because they were really approachable and friendly, they were always there to guide me while serving the families and answered my questions. They also gave me some tips on how to present yourself while you are in the same kind of situation.
PROFESIONALISM: A Way for Betterness
According to Alistair Cooke, a professional is someone who can do his best work when he doesn't feel like it. True! a true professional is someone who's still willing to work though he knows that it's not his forte or work. A person with professionalism does not choose any task to do instead willing to work to any kind job.
On my experience as an intern in CCTC, I have learned that kind of attitude of being a professional, at first I feared of processing papers of those who would like to apply for license to operate as a hotel, tourist guide, travel agency and etc., I was thinking that time, why should I do that, well in fact, when I get to work, I don't need to process papers for those who wants to apply for a certain position or place. However, eventually, I realize, that it is very helpful for me, because I will never learn a thing if I won't even try and I don't know what my future could be. It's not helpful to be passive on those things you think not meant for you to work to.
Being professional is not also about the job you do, it's how you do the job. If you know what you are doing, if you know the rules and ethics and you follow it accordingly, then you are consider as professional, sometimes people got wrong connotations about professionalism, some think that if you are on that position, you are already a professional, but that's not it, you can consider as professional if you know how to work properly and right.
if you practice professionalism when you are still at the point of nothing, for sure, you will have a brighter future, being professional is a way of becoming a better person.
--- CEBU MUSIC FESTIVAL
August 3-4 and 10-11, 2012
@Ayala Terraces and SM North wing
This activity gave me the chance to mee the t pride of Cebu when it comes to music. The different bands here in Sugbo performed on the first ever Cebu Music Festival "Tukar Sugbo" whcih was held @ Ayala Terraces last August 2-3, 2012 and @ SM North Wing on August 10-11, 2012. The purpose of the event is to lift the true Cebuano talent when it comes to music. This event also gave an avenue for the local Cebu bands to perform and expose themselves on their different genres of music.
For us, as part of the activity, it was an unforgettable experience because it was the first time that Cebu hold a music festival and we as the current interns of CCTC, we were able to contribute on the success of the event.

My farewell on my first training ground
August 22, 2012
Finally, our internship came to an end! Last August 22, 2012. I together with my co interns had a simple farewell to our office. Together with our supervisor, we share lunch and enjoy our last moments.
That moment we felt mix emotions, happy because at last we end up with great smiles, carrying remarkable memories and unforgettable experience yet sad because we know that we have to move on with our lives and live the things we used to do on almost 3 months training.
During our last day, we, interns had an individual speech with our supervisors, we shared what were our first impressions to them, our expectations and what we learned from them. We also got the chance to apologize to them for the mistakes and the "palpak" things that we had done and tell them that from those mistakes, we really learned a lot and we are very thankful to them because they really thought us what to do and not to do. They thought us that in every task we should work wisely and always have the initiative because there is always a better way in everything.
We were also very grateful to our supervisors because they didn't treat us as just interns but a family and a friend.
And as we leave the portals of Cebu City Tourism Commission, there's this one phrase that for sure all of us interns there will remember and will carry on as we go on with our future works....WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER..
